The temperate Rio de Janeiro weather promotes good moods, social activities and outdoor get togethers throughout the year. The average temperature ranges from 20°C to 26°C with an average annual temperature of 23°C.
However, the temperature reaches over 40°C during the summer and quick but strong afternoon showers are expected on a hot and humid day. Bars get packed full of beautiful people seeking cold drinks and a good chat. From April to September it is the dry season and mountaineers go crazy for the excellent options for rock climbing and adventurous activities.
People in Rio say that it never rains and sometimes we actually get liquid sunshine! In the main tourist area, Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon and Barra da Tijuca, the temperature is cooler mainly because of the sea breeze from the Atlantic Ocean.
